Da Vinci Knot Flourish

In the late 15th or early 16th century, Leonardo da Vinci drew a number of very complex knots by hand. These knots look like they have some similar type of radial symmetry to them very similar to a mandala — and done at a time without the use of computers. The level of detail in these knots are amazing and beautiful.

With this project, I was creating just the flourish (or decoration) to one of these knots.  Four of these surround the actual knot in the corners. Doing this knot led me into wondering about infinite knots and exploring them as well.  One day, I hope to tackle one of the full da Vinci knots.

With the elegance of this knot’s beautiful design, I went with a simple gold material that I think I got from the Cycles Material Vault.
